Dr Tran, our medical director, is a vocationally trained GP and Physician of Oriental medicine. He is qualified to provide integrated medical services and is fully registered with the General Medical Council and British Acupuncture Council. He is currently in private practice as an integrated medical physician and also maintains a post in the NHS as a sessional GP. He is also a medical assessor for the British Acupuncture Council.
Having obtained his Western medical qualifications [MBBS] from the world renowned St. Mary's Hospital Medical School, London, Dr Tran spent his preregistration year in general abdominal and urology surgery, respiratory, and endocrinology medicine (which embraces conditions such as diabetes and hormonal disturbances). This was followed by three years of vocational training in general practice. During this time he worked in the hospital specialities of - accident and emergency, obstetrics and gynaecology, and in psychiatry at East Surrey hospital. He completed his training in general practice in East Surrey and London.
To complement his Western medical training, Dr Tran undertook postgraduate training in Oriental medicine. He completed a two year course in Traditional Chinese Medicine [TCM] acupuncture before being granted full membership to the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). This included a full exposition of Chinese medical theory, diagnosis and supervised clinical attachments. To further refine his clinical skills, Dr Tran spent four years working under the close supervision of Master Nguyen Tinh Thong, a highly regarded physician and teacher of acupuncture & Chinese herbal medicine. He has also studied Japanese acupuncture with the modern day master, Kiiko Matsumoto. Further specialist training includes a clinical internship in Vietnam in the art of bone setting, a traditional discipline which employs fast, precise movements to re-align joints and bones in conditions ranging from osteo-arthritis to complex breaks.
